Daruma is a traditional Japanese doll that helps us to focus and achieve our goals in life.
HOW DARUMA WORKS
First, decide on a goal you are committed to achieving.
Next, draw or paint one of your Daruma doll's blank eyes. This represents THE START of your COMMITMENT to achieving your GOAL.
Then (and this is very important) place your Daruma somewhere visible in your home or at the workplace so that while he focuses on your objective, you'll be reminded to do the same.
Once your goal is realized, signify your accomplishment by drawing Daruma's other eye! Congratulations!

NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!
Daruma is closely associated with a beloved Japanese proverb, nana korobi yaoki, which states, “Fall down seven times, get up eight”. The Daruma doll's unique rounded shape allows it to return to its original position even if knocked over, representing such persistence. Daruma reminds us all to never, ever give up on our dreams.
Persistence: "When approaching a roadblock or challenge in life, you go over it, under it, around it, or through it; quitting is not an option. No matter how times you are knocked down, you get up and move forward."
- Dr. Edward A. Dreyfuss, Ph.D.
ABOUT THE COLOR PURPLE
The Japanese people are well known for their longevity and good health, and the color purple represents just that. A purple Daruma inspires dedication to an exercise regime, stands as a silent but persuasive partner in a weight loss challenge, and reminds us of the pleasure of feeling healthy. A purple Daruma is also a thoughful gift for someone who may be in ill health, perhaps in the hospital, giving extra encouragement to get well soon.
FIVE COLORS, FIVE GOALS
The five colors our Daruma dolls represent five types of goals.
A Red Daruma is for luck and good fortune.
A Purple Daruma is for health and longevity.
A Yellow Daruma is for security and protection.
A Gold Daruma is for wealth and prosperity.
A White Daruma is for love and harmony.
A HEART FOR SOCIETY
For each Daruma Doll sold on WE LOVE DARUMA , Unique Japan will proudly donate a portion of the sale to the Japanese Red Cross and the Children's HeartLink. The Children's HeartLink is a non-profit organization that helps enhance existing pediatric cardiac programs to support life-saving treatments for needy children.
This is why there is a trademark heart painted on the back on all our Daruma dolls. No other Daruma doll is as well-rounded.
Here is a recent letter received from the Children's HeartLink in appreciation for the donation We Love Daruma made on behalf of our wonderful customers. We also received a thank you note from the Japanese Red Cross for our recent contribution. Thank you to all our customers!
